Veendam (-1) vs. Omniworld - Preview
Veendam took three points from their away fixture at Helmond last week, and although this was pretty much expected we should still consider this as a good performance. Veendam is not that special, but they took full advantage from Helmond’s struggling period and definitely deserved all three points. In the first half Helmond was somewhat stronger as Veendam played too defensive, but in the second half Veendam dominated the game. Veendam isn’t a very strong side, but with two wins in 2009 they once more prove to be difficult to beat. Omniworld extended their poor run on hostile ground with a defeat at Den Bosch last week. Unlike their home games Omniworld doesn’t get dangerous on the road, and last week was no exception on that. They were early on 1-0 down, and although they equalised they were never close to a successful result. Once Den Bosch accelerated Omniworld came short on quality and didn’t stand a chance. Omniworld has the reputation to be a poor team which is nevertheless hard to beat, but so far that could only be the conclusion for their homegames. This week Omniworld fired their coach because of the poor performances this season, but he was leaving in the summer anyway. Anything else than a homewin should be considered as an upset, but I don’t think we’ll get any. Omniworld isn’t doing well, Veendam is solid and another win could even bring them into a top 10 position and keep their playoff dreams alive. The -1 handicap is logical, and worth taking with small stakes.
